What About Life?
On July 21st Cassie Newsome and Ted Noffs are getting on their horses and slowly trotting their way from Brisbane to Sydney to educate young people on the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
At the age of eight Cassie’s mother sadly died of a drug overdose and ever since she has been on a mission to educate young people on the dangers of drugs and alcohol. So what better way than to get a big group of people together and ride beautiful Australian Stock Horses all the way from Brisbane to Sydney and stopping along the way to talk to young people in schools all while trying to reach a goal of raising $150,000!
The ride will last 38 days and will stop in all major towns, camp under the stars, tell yarns by the fire and provide a little Hope for young people who are at the age of steering off onto the wrong path. The ride will show young people of Australia the most positive path and give them the essential tools to grow in a happy and healthy environment without the need for drugs and/or alcohol.
Rupert Noffs says of the ride:
“Its not just a matter of going to schools and saying “don’t do drugs” or “drugs are bad” its about education and letting them know there is always something better and it always does get better. It could be the individual’s personal situation, the family issues the young person is dealing with at the time of drug use, especially at the ages of 13 to 18, young people don’t know what to think but if they have a good role model and good education then&8211; anything is possible!”
He adds:
“Ted Noffs Foundation is very thankful to Cassie Newsome for having the spirit and passion to help raise money and awareness of Noffs’ numerous programs and services for young people.”
The riders will be greeted at the end of their journey on September 12th 2008 by the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, in Sydney’s Hyde Park.
